JUST (1. 딱[꼭] 2. 그저, 단지)

일상 속에서 무심코 지나치는 사물들, 이 전시는 그 사물들에 대한 새로운 시각을 제시한다. 작가들의 일상에서 각자의 역할을 하는 오브제들을 전시 공간으로 가져와, 그들이 매일 마주하는 사물들과의 관계를 탐구하고 있다.

 

전시 제목인 "JUST"는 이 오브제들을 규정하는 여러 의미를 담고 있다. 어떤 사물은 작가에게 꼭 필요한 필수품일 수 있으며, 반대로 그저 의미 없는 물건일 수도 있다. 그러나 이 전시에서는 사물이 가지는 의미를 단지 개인적인 필요나 용도로 한정하지 않고, 우리 모두의 일상 속에서 사물이 어떤 역할을 하고 있는지, 그 사물들이 어떠한 감정이나 기억을 불러일으킬 수 있는지에 대해 질문을 던진다.

 

이 전시를 통해 관람객들은 각자의 일상 속 오브제를 다시 바라보고, 그 속에서 발견할 수 있는 특별함과 의미를 찾아보는 기회를 얻게 될 것이다. 일상 속에서 스쳐 지나가는 사물들이 "JUST" 각자 다른 의미로 다가오며, 그저 스쳐 지나가는 사물들이 우리 삶에 깊은 흔적을 남기고 있는 것은 아닌지 돌아볼 수 있기를 바란다.

Objects that are inadvertently passed by in everyday life, this exhibition presents a new perspective on them. Objects that play their role in the daily life of the artists are brought to the exhibition space to explore their relationships with objects they face every day.

 

The title of the exhibition, "JUST", contains various meanings that define these objects. Some objects may be essential to an artist, on the contrary, just meaningless objects. However, in this exhibition, the meaning of objects is not limited to personal needs or uses, but it raises questions about the role they play in all of our daily lives and what emotions or memories they can evoke.

 

Through this exhibition, visitors will have the opportunity to look again at the objects in their daily lives and find the specialness and meaning that can be found in them. I hope that the objects passing by in everyday life come to us with different meanings of "JUST", and that we can look back on whether the objects passing by are leaving a deep trace in our lives.

김성민 Kim Sungmin

​

김성민은 자신의 일상 속 평범한 음료인 커피와 머그컵을 오브제로 삼아 커피가 가진 중독성과 그 의미를 탐구한다. 좌대는 목을 상징하며 머그컵을 뒤집어서 올려두어 과도한 섭취를 시각적으로 드러낸다. 작품에서 퍼지는 커피향은 관람객에게 후각적 경험을 제공하며 작품의 몰입감을 높인다.

​Kim Sungmin explores the addictive nature and meaning of coffee by using coffee and mugs, which are ordinary drinks in his daily life as objects. The stand symbolizes the neck, and the mug is turned upside down to visually reveal excessive intake. The coffee scent spreading in the work provides the viewer with an olfactory experience and increases the sense of immersion in the work.

김정환 Kim Jeonghwan

​김정환은 일상의 평범한 사물인 잔을 통해 시간과 관계의 의미에 대해 파고든다. 술, 물, 커피 등 다양한 음료를 담으며 일상에 깊이 스며든 잔은 이제 그의 곁에 당연한 존재가 되었다. 잔이라는 사소한 물건이 일상 속에 자리 잡기까지의 과정을 통해 사물과 인간, 그리고 시간 사이의 관계를 탐색한다.

​Kim Jeonghwan delves into the meaning of time and relationship through a glass, an ordinary object of everyday life. A glass that deeply permeated his daily life by containing various drinks such as alcohol, water, and coffee has now become a natural being by his side. Through the process of establishing a small object called a glass in everyday life, it explores the relationship between objects, humans, and time.

​문병석 Moon Byeong seok

​

​문병석은 키보드라는 일상적 오브제를 통해 인간과 도구의 관계를 탐구한다. 효율적으로 사용되던 키보드가 벽에 수직으로 세워지면서 본래의 기능을 잃고, 문장이 아닌 단어만을 입력하게 되는 모습은 자유를 잃어버린 현대인을 상징한다. 이를 통해 작가는 도구와 인간의 관계, 그리고 평등이라는 주제에 대한 새로운 시각을 제시하며 관람객들에게 질문을 던진다.

Moon Byeong seok explores the relationship between humans and tools through a daily object called keyboard. The appearance that the keyboard, which was used efficiently, loses its original function as it is erected vertically on the wall, and only words, not sentences, are entered symbolizes modern people who have lost their freedom. Through this, the artist presents a new perspective on the relationship between tools and humans, and the subject of equality and asks questions to the visitors.

안형수 Ahn Hyeongsu

안형수는 외부와 단절된 자유로운 휴식 속에서 쿠션이라는 오브제를 중심으로 다양한 상상을 펼쳤다. 그는 일상에서 쿠션이 단순한 물건을 넘어 어디서든 사용할 수 있는 자유로움과 편안함의 상징으로 변화할 수 있다고 보았다. 모니터, 벽, 식물, 자동차 등 일상의 여러 요소와 결합된 쿠션의 가능성을 작업에 담았다. 이러한 상상을 통해 일상적 사물의 새로운 의미와 창의적 해석을 탐구하고자 했다.

In a free rest cut off from the outside, Ahn Hyeongsu developed various imaginations around an object called cushion. He saw that in everyday life, cushions can be transformed into symbols of freedom and comfort that can be used anywhere beyond simple objects. The possibility of cushions combined with various elements of everyday life such as monitors, walls, plants, and cars is captured in his work. Through this imagination, new meanings and creative interpretations of everyday objects are explored.​

엄채윤 Eom Chaeyun

​​

엄채윤은 사물에 대한 기존의 인식을 넘어, 사물 자체의 본질과 가능성을 탐구한다. 본 작업은 일반적으로 보관 용도로 사용되는 '용기'를 새로운 시각으로 재해석하는 실험이다. 빛을 투과하며 면 하나가 뚫려 있는 직육면체 형태의 오브제를 통해 언어적 사유를 벗어난 순수한 사물로서의 존재를 제시한다.

Eom Chaeyun explores the nature and possibility of the object itself beyond the existing perception of it. This work is an experiment that reinterprets 'container', which is generally used for storage purposes, with a new perspective. It presents its existence as a pure object outside of verbal thinking through a rectangular parallelepiped-shaped object that transmits light and has one side open.​

이상욱 Lee Sanguk

​​

이상욱은 얇은 검정 비닐봉투라는 일상적 사물을 통해 사물의 용도와 가치를 재해석한다. 구멍 나고 찢어져 재활용조차 어려운 비닐봉투는 일회적이고 소모적이며 필요성과 가치의 상실을 상징한다. 이 작품은 가치를 상실한 사물이 단순한 폐기물로 끝나는 신세가 아니라, 우리의 일상 속에서 어떤 역할과 의미를 지닐 수 있을지에 대한 질문이다.

Lee Sanguk reinterprets the purpose and value of objects through everyday objects called thin black plastic bags. Plastic bags that are perforated and torn, which are difficult to recycle, are disposable and consume, and symbolize the loss of necessity and value. This work is not about an object that has lost its value ending up as mere waste, but rather a question of what role and meaning it can have in our daily lives.​

전영민 Jun Youngmin

전영민은 베개라는 일상적 오브제를 통해 수면과 꿈, 그리고 기억의 관계를 탐구한다. 편안한 베개는 깊은 잠과 선명한 꿈을 위한 필수 요소이며, 꿈은 종종 강렬한 기억과 연결되어 나타난다. 그러나 꿈속 기억들은 현실의 연관성을 잃고 자유롭게 혼재된 형태로 드러난다. 전영민는 베개의 역할을 단순한 수면 보조 도구에서 꿈과 무의식 세계를 열어주는 매개체로 확장하여 해석한다.

Jun Youngmin explores the relationship between sleep, dreams, and memories through an everyday object called a pillow. A comfortable pillow is an essential component for deep sleep and clear dreams, and dreams often manifest in conjunction with intense memories. However, memories in dreams lose their connection to reality and are revealed in freely mixed forms. Jeon interprets the role of a pillow by extending it from a simple sleep aid to a medium that opens up the world of dreams and unconsciousness.
